3 Swimsafe

by nzhomeed @ 7:00 pm

at Gallaghers Aquatic Centre
Collins Road, Melville, Hamilton.

Homeschool SWIMSAFE is popular - paid-up THEN members will get priority and other homeschooling families can book in 2 weeks before the Swimsafe week, if vacancies.

~ Usually at the beginning of each term and at the end of each term [but not always].
~ 5 lessons in one week for school-aged children (five year olds and up).
~ Pay $10 for the week for each child booked in for lessons – 5+
~ Please come early at 1 pm on the first day for sorting classes and assessing new students – sit on the black bench seat at 1.13 pm.
~ 2 class times held between 1.15 pm to 2.30 pm each afternoon - 7 levels, as assessed by Coach.
~  Swimmers not having lessons pay usual Gallaghers’ Aquatic Centre entry fee and can swim in half of Littlies heated pool or 1-2 public lanes in main pool. Under 2s must be within arm’s reach of carer 16+yo. Under 8s must be actively supervised.

Notes from Helen Twentyman, Team Leader Gallaghers Learn to Swim:
1. ** Please don’t swim in lesson lanes before start of class.
2. Boys – wear shorts above your knees.
3. Boys and Girls – If your hair is shoulder length, you must tie it up or wear a swimhat. [This is to do with instructors seeing children’s breathing and style - and chn being able to regulate breathing etc better]
4. Instructors are in charge of your children if an alarm goes off. No parents are to take their chn and take off. This causes distress when the instructors (who are trained in emergency procedures for that facilty) can’t find the students in their class.
5. For the muster on Monday. Be there at 1pm and sitting at the long black bench (formerly yellow) by 1.13pm. Children - follow the instructions to get out and sit at the end of the pool. Parents, especially of chn under 8, need to herd your chn in the right direction please.
6. ** No under fives in the pool unless an adult is with them in the pool. No subsidy for the adult swimmer or child. Wearing your clothes, skirt or shorts etc is not acceptable, must be approved swimwear. This is being strictly monitored now and no exceptions will be allowed.

** Please change or cancel bookings at least 5 days before start date,
unless death, blood, or green discharges!
